Security forces foil attack on presidential palace
Security forces in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) have thwarted a coup attempt targeting the presidential palace in the capital Kinshasa. According to the DRC army, armed men stormed the palace on Sunday, but were swiftly intercepted and neutralized by security personnel.
President Felix Tshisekedi safe and unharmed
President Felix Tshisekedi, who was inside the palace at the time of the attack, is reported to be safe and unharmed. The motives behind the coup attempt remain unclear, but the government has vowed to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
