Ernesto Laclau was an Argentine political theorist and philosopher born in Buenos Aires on 6 October 1935. He is often considered an inventor of post-Marxism, and his work has had a major influence on contemporary political and social theory.
Laclau died unexpectedly in Seville, Spain, on 13 April 2014. His death was a great loss to the intellectual community, and his work continues to be debated and discussed by scholars around the world.
