Raptors Trade Jalen McDaniels to Kings
McDaniels Headed to Sacramento in Exchange for Future Draft Pick
Sixers Acquire McDaniels in Deal at NBA Trade Deadline
In a surprising move on Thursday afternoon, the Toronto Raptors traded forward Jalen McDaniels to the Sacramento Kings for a future draft pick. McDaniels, a 25-year-old power forward, had been a key rotation player for the Raptors this season, averaging 3.4 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in 50 appearances.
The Kings, who are currently fighting for a playoff spot in the Western Conference, are expected to give McDaniels a chance to start at power forward. McDaniels is a versatile defender who can also contribute on the offensive end with his ability to shoot the three-pointer and create his own shot.
The Raptors, on the other hand, are in rebuilding mode and are looking to add young players and draft picks to their roster. The trade of McDaniels is the latest move by the Raptors to shed salary and acquire future assets as they look to rebuild around their young core of Scottie Barnes, Pascal Siakam, and Fred VanVleet.
The trade deadline in the NBA is set for Thursday, February 9th at 3:00 PM ET. McDaniels is just one of several players who are expected to be on the move before the deadline as teams look to make final adjustments to their rosters for the stretch run.
