Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera has officially retired from professional baseball, ending a remarkable 20-year career that will undoubtedly land him in the Baseball Hall of Fame. The Venezuelan first baseman, known affectionately as “Miggy,” played his final game in the majors on Sunday after 21 seasons and a Hall of Fame-worthy resume.
Cabrera played for two teams during his career, the Florida Marlins and the Detroit Tigers. He spent the majority of his time with the Tigers, becoming the team's all-time leader in RBIs and hits. His accomplishments include two American League MVP awards, four batting titles, seven Silver Slugger awards, and 11 All-Star selections.
On Sunday, the Tigers honored Cabrera with a special farewell ceremony before their game against the Chicago White Sox. Fans cheered and chanted "Miggy" as he took the field for the final time.
