Our Mission
The Kanawha County Assessor's Office is committed to professionally performing the statutory duties of the County Assessor. Our mission is to provide accurate and timely assessments of all real property within the county, in order to ensure that taxes are distributed fairly and equitably.
Assessment Data Online
The Kanawha County Assessor's office is pleased to make assessment data available online and free of charge. This data includes property values, tax rates, and other relevant information. We encourage you to use this data to make informed decisions about your property taxes.
GIS Department
The GIS department of the Kanawha County Assessor's Office is responsible for creating and maintaining digital and paper tax maps. These maps are used for a variety of purposes, including property assessment, tax collection, and land use planning. We also maintain a database of all property parcels in the county.
Assessor's Duties
The Assessor and her deputies are directed by West Virginia Constitution Article X Section I to determine the value of all real and personal property within the county. Real property includes all parcels of surface real estate and all buildings permanently affixed to the land. Personal property includes all other property that is not real property, such as vehicles, furniture, and equipment.
