Embiid Inks $196 Million Supermax Extension with Philadelphia 76ers

Mega-Deal Ensures Franchise Stalwart's Long-Term Commitment

Historic Contract Positions Embiid as Cornerstone of Sixers' Future

The Philadelphia 76ers have secured the services of All-Star center Joel Embiid for the next four years, signing a lucrative supermax extension worth $196 million. The contract, which includes $213,280,928 guaranteed, solidifies Embiid's status as the cornerstone of the Sixers' franchise.

Embiid, a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection, has emerged as one of the league's most dominant big men. In the 2021-22 season, he averaged 30.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, leading the Sixers to the Eastern Conference semifinals.

"Joel is the heart and soul of our team," said Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey. "This extension demonstrates our unwavering belief in his abilities and leadership. We are thrilled to have him continue his career in Philadelphia."

The supermax contract is a significant investment for the Sixers, but it ensures that Embiid remains committed to the organization. With Embiid leading the charge, the Sixers will look to compete for their first NBA championship since 1983.
